Review: Hala Coffee and Kitchen
Only Steps Away From The Jefferson L Train Stop, Hala Is A Must Try In The Heart Of Bushwick
Hey readers,
I’ve posted about coffeeshops in Bushwick during the last two posts. Why not continue the trend?
Today we’re looking at Hala Coffee and Kitchen in Bushwick — a neighborhood favorite and only steps away from the Jefferson L Train stop.
NEIGHBORHOOD: Bushwick
ADDRESS: 40 Wyckoff Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237
SEATING:
Window sidebar with spots for 4 stools
Two bar style seats facing the barista
Two bar style seats facing the front wall
Two communal tables. The first one is in the front upon entry. There are six seats. The other is in the back and is a high top table. There are eight stools.
There are also four two person tables on the wall opposite to the bar.
PLUG SITUATION: There is one by the bar style seats near the front window. There is another set next to the two person table furthest away from the front door. There is also a seat of outlets near the back high top table.
WIFI: It works well. See speed test below.
NOISE LEVEL: It’s comfortable. There is music in the background but quiet enough to not get distracted and it’s also loud enough that if you’re having a conversation with someone, not everyone will be able to hear what you’re saying.
BATHROOM: There is one bathroom in the back intended for one person at a time.
LIGHTING: There are huge floor to ceiling windows and a skylight. There is no shortage of natural light in this space.
FOOD: There are solid options here. They have a full menu. I’ve had the biscuits and gravy, avocado toast and kale salad — none of which are disappointing. The pastries are also fairly strong. Their coffee menu is pretty straightforward.
OVERALL: I highly recommend this place, friendly staff, good food, good amount of space, and while it is often busy I’ve never had an issue finding a seat.
