Review: McNally Jackson: Seaport
If you have a good charge, this is Seaport location is a must try
Hello hello, readers—
Happy Monday!
It’s time for another workspace review, and today we’re in the Seaport. If you’re based in Lower Manhattan—or just passing through for a few hours—I’ve found a gem of an inspiring spot for you and it’s the McNally Jackson bookstore at South Street Seaport.
Tucked just steps from the hustle of FiDi, this quiet corner offers a surprising sense of calm (and, importantly, smells much better than nearby blocks in the summer months).
Neighborhood: Seaport
Address: 4 Fulton Street
Seating:
Five bar seats
Three two-person tables
Three three-person tables
Several long outdoor picnic tables that seat six or more
Plugs: This isn’t the place’s strong suit. There’s one outlet behind the bar (the baristas are kind enough to let you use it if you ask), and another near the corner booth. Best to come with a full charge.
Wi-Fi: The Seaport district provides its own public Wi-Fi—not McNally Jackson specifically—but it works just fine. And don’t take the lack of in-house Wi-Fi as a sign that laptops aren’t welcome. Plenty of people are working away on their computers.
Bathroom: Yes, there is one inside the bookstore.
Food and Drink: Standard coffee shop fare—pastries, coffee, tea—and a few alcoholic options like beer and wine if you're in the mood.
Noise Level: Comfortable. Quiet, but not uncomfortably so. There’s soft music and a light buzz of conversation, but the acoustics keep everything pleasantly muted and private.
Lighting: Warm yellow overhead lighting makes the space feel cozy, especially in colder months. In summer, the large windows fill the room with natural light, keeping it bright and welcoming.
Overall: If you're charged up and fine with public Wi-Fi, this space is definitely worth a visit. It’s peaceful, well-lit, and great for a few productive hours.
